Hakuna Matata Everyone
I got my inspiration for this topic from a podcast of Todd White. It was a very short mention but it sparked something in my heart. This is why I started the blog – so I can share these heart moments with you guys. So we all know the famous Hakuna Matata saying from The Lion King and that it means no worries… let me just post the lyrics so we can all sing it before I continue, 1, 2, 3… go
Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze
It means no worries For the rest of your days It's our problem-free philosophy Hakuna Matata!
I think we should just repeat it once more as it just sparks joy in our hearts singing it, and while you are singing it I want you to hand over all your cares and worries to the Lord now and relax in His love as you continue reading.
I could not explain Hakuna Matata better then Luke. I saw the picture of now worries in my head and instantly thought of Luke12, where the heading is “Don’t Worry”.
Hakuna Matata is a Swahili saying that means “No Worries”.
Why does Jesus say it is useless to worry?
LUKE 12:22-34 (TPT)
Jesus taught his disciples, saying, “Listen to me. Never let anxiety enter your hearts. Never worry about any of your needs, such as food or clothing. For your life is infinitely more than just food or the clothing you wear. Take the carefree birds as your example. Do you ever see them worry? They don’t grow their own food or put it in a storehouse for later. Yet God takes care of every one of them, feeding each of them from his love and goodness. Isn’t your life more precious to God than a bird? Be carefree in the care of God! “Does worry add anything to your life? Can it add one more year, or even one day? So if worrying adds nothing, but actually subtracts from your life, why would you worry about God’s care of you? “Think about the lilies. They grow and become beautiful, not because they work hard or strive to clothe themselves. Yet not even Solomon, wearing his kingly garments of splendor, could be compared to a field of lilies. If God can clothe the fields and meadows with grass and flowers, can’t he clothe you as well, O struggling one with so many doubts? I repeat it: Don’t let worry enter your life. Live above the anxious cares about your personal needs. People everywhere seem to worry about making a living, but your heavenly Father knows your every need and will take care of you. Each and every day he will supply your needs as you seek his kingdom passionately, above all else. So don’t ever be afraid, dearest friends! Your loving Father joyously gives you his kingdom realm with all its promises! “So, now, go and sell what you have and give to those in need, making deposits in your account in heaven, an account that will never be taken from you. Your gifts will become a secure and unfailing treasure, deposited in heaven forever. Where you deposit your treasure, that is where your thoughts will turn to—and your heart will long to be there also.”
Well I think that just explained it all. It clearly says that worry never helps and it sucks all our energy and steals all our happiness. But how do we live a life without any worries? We can’t all live in an animated movie or fantasy world? Of course not, Jesus clearly told the disciples that we need to embrace reality more fully.
We need to live life not just for acquiring food and clothing. We need to celebrate our lives, and you can start by worrying less about things you have no control over.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present you request to God - Philippians 4:6
It is wonderfully liberating to allow God to be God. Head follows heart, so set your heart on things that matter.
I wrote this down from a Joyce Meyer sermon some time back, love how she just put it in perspective. “So stop worrying about everything, give it to God, and live in grace. Grace isn't just divine favor—it's power! Don't waste another day of your life worrying. Determine what your responsibility is and what it is not. Don't try to take on God's responsibility. When we do what we can do, God steps in and does what we can't. So give yourself and your worries to God and begin enjoying the abundant life He has planned for you.”
I want to encourage you to think about all the little worries (and the big ones) that keeps you from walking in God’s promise completely. Think about how you can live more worry-free, and be focused on living for Jesus?
Simply learn to live the good life which God has already prearranged and made ready for us to live.
Strive to make every day a Hakuna Matata Day – give your worries to God.
“Be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let joy overflow, for you are united with the Anointed One!” Philippians 4:4, TPT
