You Are Stronger Than You Think

Life can be overwhelming, can't it? There are moments when everything seems to come crashing down at once—times when the weight of the world presses so heavily on your shoulders that you wonder if you can stand up again.

But let me remind you today: You are stronger than you think.

Psalm 28:7-8 tells us,

"Yahweh is my strength and my wraparound shield. When I fully trust in you, help is on the way. I jump for joy and burst forth with ecstatic, passionate praise! I will sing songs of what you mean to me! You will be the inner strength of all your people, Yahweh, the mighty protector of all, and the saving strength for all your anointed ones."

This scripture is a powerful reminder that we do not walk this life alone. We have a Champion, a hero who fights for us, strengthens us, and carries us when we feel like we can’t take another step.

As Dante Bowe sings in Champion, "You are my Champion / Giants fall when You stand / Undefeated, every battle You've won." We need to remember that God, our Champion, has already defeated the giants in our lives. The same power that raised Jesus from the grave is at work within us, and no battle is too great for His strength. Even when we feel like we can't go on, God is undefeated and will carry us through.

But so often, we forget that. We let defeat whisper lies into our hearts, and we start to agree with them. We start believing that things will never get better, that we will always feel this heavy, that we are too weak to overcome whatever storm we are in. Today, I encourage you to shake off that heaviness. Stop agreeing with the voice of defeat. Do not align yourself with any reasoning that comes from the pit of hell. Remember, the Lord is our Champion—He did not lay down His life to leave us defenseless.

What we need to understand is this: The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave lives inside of us (Romans 8:11). Yes, the same Spirit! That means you carry a wellspring of joy, strength, and power inside you. When life leaves you feeling dry and depleted, when every situation feels like it’s too much, you still have access to His strength.

As the song continues, "I am who You say I am / You crown me with confidence,"

we are reminded that our identity is in Christ, not in the lies of defeat.

You may feel overwhelmed, but this is not the end of your story.

God’s Spirit within you is your wellspring of joy.

And that joy is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

When you are tired, His strength is your refuge. When you are empty, He fills you up.

It’s okay to rest if you need rest. It’s okay to cry if your heart is grieving.

Take time to process all your emotions with God.

Talk to Him about your anger, your disappointment, your sadness.

He is not only our helper, but also our counsellor. He listens and cares deeply about the details of your heart. But don't stay in that place of weariness. Don’t let the storm define your future. You are stronger than you think, not because of anything you’ve done but because God’s Spirit lives inside of you. He is not only your helper—He is your deliverer.

He will restore you and make His strength become your own.

God is waiting to lift you up, to breathe His peace and strength into your life. All you have to do is surrender. Surrender the heaviness, the defeat, the pain, and let His joy and strength rise up in you. Rest in His presence, knowing that He will carry you, just like a shepherd carries his sheep.

So, today, shake off the weight of defeat.

You are not abandoned, you are not forgotten, and you are certainly not without strength. You have the Spirit of God living inside of you—the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead! With that kind of power, no situation can keep you down for long.

Trust in Him.

Let Him restore you.

Let Him remind you that you are stronger than you think.

Father God, I thank You that You are my strength, my Champion, my deliverer. Help me to shake off this heaviness and stop agreeing with defeat. Fill me with Your Spirit—the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. When I am weak, remind me that Your strength lives inside me. Restore my joy and help me to rise again. I trust You to carry me through every storm. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You are stronger than you think because God’s strength is made perfect in your weakness.

Let Him be your strength today!
